One important function is that our immune systems need vitamin D to fight off invading bacteria and viruses! Vitamin D has other roles in the body, including modulation of cell growth, neuromuscular function, and reduction of inflammation.
You can also get Vitamin D through certain foods and supplements to ensure adequate levels of the vitamin in your blood.
Now, in spite of those methods, Vitamin D deficiency is considered to be one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world.
